Looking Back, Looking Ahead

With Christmas just around the corner, we’re reflecting on our first four months in our new premises. The building itself has come a long way…

…And so have our employees. In case you missed it, the video below shows our Year 10 employees preparing for their exhibition of BTEC Art and Design work at Myatt’s Corner Café last week; a fitting end to a productive term.

After Christmas, they'll be cooking up something special for their Hospitality and Catering taster(!) course at Myatt's Corner Café. We can't wait to see their vocational skills develop even further.

Create/Curate

Earlier this week, our Year 10 employees took a break from their filmmaking workshops, and started fulfilling the criteria for their Bronze Arts Award, including the selection of an Arts Hero.

We were delighted that Shanay, a participant in La Cinémathèque Française’s ‘Le Cinéma, cent ans de jeunesse’ film education programme, chose the Lumière Brothers as her Arts Hero(es).

Before Christmas, our Arts Award candidates will deliver a technical skills tutorial. They will also visit BFI Southbank to watch and review a film. We look forward to sharing more of their work before the Christmas holiday.

Congratulations to Year 11 employee Lilly, who was November’s Employee of the Month; a title she earned by demonstrating good punctuality, an excellent work ethic, and persistence in the face of challenging assignments.

This week climaxed with the launch of the BTEC Art and Design Christmas exhibition at Myatt’s Corner Café next to the Oval Quarter development. Our Year 10 employees selected and arranged some of their own creations, as well as work produced by Year 11 employees for Unit 1 of BTEC Art and Design. The work will be on display throughout December for all visitors to admire.
